Instructor Eric Kirkwood has been
skateboarding for 40+ years and teaching
for 35. Since 1986 he has been a sponsored
skateboarder and had a pro board for Marin
based Poorboy Skateboards.
Eric has had the fortune to travel the world
judging professional competitions including
the X-Games, Gravity Games, Dew Tour, and
the LG Action Sports World Tour.
“Along with immeasurable enjoyment,
skateboarding has enhanced my life in many
unexpected ways. It’s brought me unique
opportunities, a supportive community, and
the focus and determination to welcome life’s
challenges. I am excited to share it’s benefits
with my students.”
40 years on a board!
In 2007 Eric coached the Thailand National
Skateboard Team for the Olympic Asian
Indoor Games in Macau, China where they
earned two Silver Medals.
In 2014 he was
honored to represent Thailand once again
at the Phuket Asian Beach Games. The team
earned a Bronze, two Silvers, and the country's
first Gold Medal in Skateboarding.
From 2016 to 2021 Eric assumed the role of head coach for the Thai National team as they pursued their goal of qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

SKate Camp History
Eric worked at
Visalia Skate Camp (a.k.a Element Camp)
from 1990 to 2004 as a counselor, lead
counselor, and ultimately Program Director.
He was Chief Instructor at the UC Berkeley Village Skateboard Camps from 2009 to 2012.
